Labyrinth / Dream

Mauve Decade is the alias of Portland-based producer, DJ, and songwriter Sean Clark. “Labyrinth / Dream” is Clark’s first official release after years spent uploading saccharine half-songs and charged-up DJ sets to Soundcloud. A product of kaleidoscopic world building and careful sound exploration, this double-single confidently meshes the boundaries of bubblegum pop, trance, and shoegaze. The songs are equally detailed as they are spacious; equally introspective as they are outward-reaching. Bright leads and percussion punctuate lush pads, arpeggios, and whisper-like vocals. It’s loud quiet music: for headphones and the dancefloor.
